Therese Sheedy
Psychologist
With over 30 years of experience as a nationally registered psychologist (AHPRA and APS), I am passionate about supporting adults to navigate the complexities of life.
Starting out with Relationships Australia and moving onto the education sector and private practice – counselling, consulting and training, my career has allowed me to work in a wide range of settings, including private practice counselling, educational environments, organisations and sporting groups.
I currently provide workshops for schools focusing on wellbeing, resilience and Restorative Justice. I have been an outsourced psychologist conducting psychometric assessments for the Australian Antarctic Division for over 10 years.
I recently completed 4 ½ years working with the not-for-profit organisation - Smiling Mind as their Subject Matter Expert, contributing to the development and delivery of mindfulness-based mental fitness programs and meditations.
I have a particular interest in holistic approaches to mental health, drawing on mindfulness-based interventions such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-integrated CBT, Mindfulness-based Emotional Balance, Interpersonal Neurobiology and mind-body medicine. These modalities enable me to effective support clients to manage and address issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, overwhelm, grief, infertility, and significant life changes.
I believe in seeing the whole person - not just the problem. My practice is grounded in collaboration, working alongside clients to achieve outcomes that enrich their daily lives and relationships.
Whether in a counselling room, a classroom, or a group setting, my goal is to empower everyone to find greater balance, resilience, and wellbeing.
Therese consults at Chrysalis Allied Health on Thursdays.
